**"No. 1 of the all"⭐🙇🏻‍♂️**May 12, 1979 - 42 Years Ago Today: Donna Summer debuted at No. 39 on the Billboard 200 Chart with her album, "Bad Girls." The double album was her seventh consecutive release to chart and became her longest-running No. 1 album when it began a non-consecutive 6-week run at the top of the Billboard 200 on June 16, 1979. The leadoff single, "Hot Stuff" was presently in its 4th week on the chart and had already catapulted to No. 3. It began a non-consecutive 3-week run at No. 1 on June 2, 1979. It was followed by the title track which began a 5-week run at No. 1 on July 14, 1979. Both singles were certified Platinum. On August 25, 1979, the 3rd single, "Dim All The Lights," was the Hot Shot Debut at No. 70 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart. It peaked at No. 2 for 2 weeks beginning November 10, 1979, just 2 weeks prior to Summer's 4th and final No. 1 single, "No More Tears (Enough Is Enough)," a duet with Barbra Streisand, which was the leadoff single from her follow-up album, "Donna Summer: On The Radio - Greatest Hits, Volumes I & II." "No More Tears (Enough Is Enough)," topped the Hot 100 for 2 weeks beginning on November 24, 1979 and it was released simultaneously as a 7" edit on Columbia Records (Streisand's label) and a 12" long remixed version on Casablanca Records (Summer's label). The 7" edit and the 12" long version sold in excess of one million units each. The 12" version was also available on Summer's Greatest Hits compilation which became her 3rd consecutive No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 Chart on January 5, 1980, which broke a record for the only artist to have 3 consecutive double albums to reach No. 1. The follow-up single from the Greatest Hits collection was "On The Radio," which debuted at No. 86 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart on January 12, 1980 and peaked at No. 5 on March 8, 1980. Following Summer's announcement that she was leaving Casablanca for Geffen Records (which prompted a lawsuit between her and Casablanca), the record company released "Sunset People" as a 7" and 12" offering although it wasn't released in the U.S. due to the law suit. "Sunset People" peaked at No. 46 in the UK. Following "Sunset People," the fourth and final Top 40 U.S. Hot 100 single, "Walk Away," which first appeared on the "Bad Girls" album was delivered also a leadoff single from Casablanca's compilation album, "Walk Away-Collector's Edition (The Best Of 1977-1980)," and debuted on September 13, 1980. It peaked at No. 36 on October 18, 1980, one month prior to Summer's debut single for Geffen, "The Wanderer," from the Top Ten album of the same name, with the single peaking at No. 3 on the Hot 100 Chart on November 15, 1980. "Bad Girls" contains many classic tracks including, "On My Honor," "There Will Always Be A You," "Our Love," "Journey To The Centre Of Your Heart" and "Lucky." "Bad Girls" was the best-selling album of Summer's career, achieving triple Platinum status and selling in excess of 8 million copies worldwide. Summer received 5 Grammy nominations and won for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance for "Hot Stuff." Other categories it was nominated for were pop, disco and R&B as well as a nod for Album of the Year. Donna Summer was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013.
