This is wonderful news and it means only two things: Justice and recognition.
SoulTrain has selected Tina Turner as the most important Soulful Rock Singer.
They published their 25 Top List yesterday and only four ladies are included, on an article by Mr. Joe Walker.
Tina Turner has always been part of my life. At least, since “Let`s Stay Together”. I was a kid when she reappeared so i was not aware of her previous existence while Ike And Tina. Tina deserves everything she achieved. She is an example to all human beings. Strong, a fighter. And she is so talented. “Foreign Affair” or “Private Dancer” are part of the soundtrack of my life. Thank you, Tina.
Janis Joplin ranks at number 3. I do not agree with it. Although she was a lioness, a wild energy, her music career was too short. But yes, the dead are always perfect.
Surprisingly, the underrated Ann Wilson ranks at number 5! Another well deserved award. And another lady that is part of my life. She is half of Heart. The band that brought to us “Alone” or ” All I Wanna Do Is Make Love To You”.
Stevie Nicks ranks at number 7. Another lady that in under my skin. Solo or as the voice of Fleetwood Mac, Stevie enchants. And she keeps that mystery aura that was so well captured on “American Horror Story: Coven”. A fantastic tribute to a legend.
I just think there are missing other ladies. What about Aretha Franklin? Patti Labelle? Among others? Maybe they didnt fit the Rock category, i am not sure.
